what a poser

Being the proud momma that I am, I am constantly snapping shots and taking video clips of Noah. As a result he has developed a Pavlovian response to the beeping and pre-flash focus of our camera. I realized it yesterday. I was snapping away while he playfully delighted in his new books, yet each and every time he heard the beep he would look up, smile and pose. Once the final flash blinked, he was back to his books. It took me a couple of times to realize that is exactly what he was doing. I couldn't stop laughing and the experiment was on!

Not all of the pictures are perfect (lots of blinking with the flash) but he is looking at the camera when he was otherwise totally engrossed in the books.

Yowza, Mom! That's a lot of pictures you're takin' there!

Then he rolled under the dust ruffle and thought he was the most clever thing that ever graced the planet. I have to say I agree.

Obviously silliness ensued as it often does at our house. I didn't post all of the pictures here but there are over 12 in a row where he heard the beep, saw the pre-flash and actually posed. I guess it's true what they say, the apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree, especially when the trunk and the branches are rooted in dramatic soil.

lionel chubs

This is Lionel Chubs.

Lionel Chubs came to our family in the form of a gift from our good friends; David, Heather, and Luke Steven. Heather was pushing Luke through the store to pick out a present for Noah when Luke pointed and called out, "Lion!" Heather knew at that moment that she had to put the lion in the cart.

As I began to complete the finishing touches on Noah's nursery I recalled my sister always having a toy handy to entertain her boys on their changing table. So, I nestled the lion in a woven basket next to the powder, lotion, and ointment; awaiting his playmate yet to be born.

As Noah grew and grew he required more entertainment whilst his diaper was changed. I pulled the lion, waiting right where I left him, from the basket and nuzzled him into Noah's chest. Noah, with eyes wide and large grin, hugged him. Instant friends.

One morning Nate was completing the typical diaper changing ritual and offered Noah the furry lion. As he did so he explained to Noah that is name was Mr. Chubs. Me overhearing this entered the room and added, "LIONEL Chubs." Because well, he's a lion. To which Nate chimed in, "Lionel Chubs...attorney at Lion." Due to our silliness laughter ensued.

Songs, poems, and stories have been created about Lionel Chubs and he continues to bring a smile to Noah's face, as well as ours, where there was a frown.

So glad to meet you Mr. Chubs, we're so very pleased you've come to stay.

peter pan prince charming

Okay, so those of you who know me are aware of my affection for all things Disney and children's literature. I was thrilled when I found this onesie as I believed it to be discontinued last year. He is my little Prince Charming. Like father, like son.

As for the hat, well, a friend made it for me because of my love for Peter Pan. Noah's nursery is Peter Pan themed and I love all of the movies. The whimsy and magic of it all makes me giddy. Fortunately we have been blessed with more clothes than I know what to do with for him and unfortunately we never got around to putting this hat on him when he was smaller. As our boy has a larger than average noggin the hat is now too small.

And as of this week he has begun sticking out his tongue - it's the cutest thing and it makes me giggle constantly!

I won't grow up!

Gertie loves Noah. She feels that, like Noah, she should constantly be the center of attention and will squeeze herself into any photo she possibly can.

He makes this shocked and surprised face when he sees the flash of the camera.

grammy lamby

(I intended to post this at the beginning of June, however, time escaped me!)

A few months ago on Grandma Joanie's Girl Weekend she picked up a little lamb with a soft blankie attached for Noah. He was too little to play with it then but these past few weeks he has very much enjoyed hugging, squishing, balling up and snuggling the cloth diapers. (Which we use for burp cloths, never as diapers!) I'm pretty sure he's going to be a "blankie boy." Goodness knows his mommy was a blankie girl!

As I was putting some clothes away in his closet today I saw the little lamby that I had put aside for Noah nestled in the basket with his other stuffed animal friends, Spherical Giraffe and Super Soft Puppy Man. I wanted to see if Noah would welcome the little lamby into his arms the way he so lovingly welcomes the cloth diapers. As I placed the lamby on his chest he threw his arms around it, stuffed the lamby's arm in his mouth, and let out a a squeal of delight!

His smile is so joyous, he is a blessing everyday!

Sisters and their boys!

A double smooch!

Hangin' out with Grandpa.

Great Grandma Pearsol was able to join us for our Mother's Day celebration. She loves just to be in the presence of Noah, it's precious.

Grandpa Pete loves to play Airplaine with Noah!

"Hey, you lookin' at me?"

He loves to tickle & laugh with Noah!

Being able to celebrate this milestone with my precious boy and amazing husband was the highlight of my day.

adventures in rice cereal

Sunday was Noah's first time eating rice cereal. We started him out with some milk but he was so hungry and confused about what we were doing that he cried much of the time. The whole spoon and waiting deal was a bit much for the poor little guy.

However, Monday night was a whole different story. I began feeding him and immediately he was calm and relaxed. This time he knew what to expect and was ready.

He was more than happy to wait as I replenished each spoonful!

Yum, yum, yum!

All smiles!

It's so good!

Full belly boy.

It was so delicious I couldn't keep it all in!

And yes, his bib says, "My dad is cooler than your dad."

tummy time

Ahhh, tummy time. A necessary and fun activity for all babies. Although with our little Noah well, it's not always good times. You see our little Noah...has a big head! (It sort of runs in the family!) He does well when he is upright, however lifting it from a tummy position is pretty hard for him. So I was elated one day a little over a month ago that he seemed to be enjoying his tummy time.

Propping him up on the Boppy made it so much easier for him.

How cute are his arm dimples?

"I'm trying Mommy, I really am!"

This made me giggle because he looks like a big boy lounging around.

It's hard to choose but I'm pretty sure this one is my favorite.

It was a successful tummy time.
